"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

Jocelyn Joe-Strack is a member of the First Nations, the indigenous population of Canada, who are facing a tremendous transition, especially in the Northern parts of the country. Climate change and digitization cause friction between their tradition and modern age. But these two phenomenons as well as globalization do not only challenge indigenous people, they have a vast impact on all of our societies. How do indigenous peoples perceive climate change and how do they adjust to it? What strategies do they pursue to actively shape these transitions? What can we learn from the First Nations' way of life and what can we adapt to our lifestyles? How can we secure the future for the next generations? With: Jocelyn Joe-Strack, member of the First Nations (indigenous peoples in Canada) and PhD student in the fields of Urban and Land Use Planing and First Nations Studies, School of Environment and Sustainability, University of Saskatchewan SchoolPhilipp Schaeffer, documentary filmmaker, director of the virtual reality movie Eggs, Rocks, Human Beings about two young inuits in the Canadian Arctic.Moderation: Dr. Martin Kilgus, managing director of ifa AkademieIn Cooperation with: ifa – Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen; Botschaft von Kanada in Deutschland
