George Orwell: 1984

> / And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed --- if all
> records told the same tale --- then the lie passed into history and became
> truth. 'Who controls the past,' ran the Party slogan, 'controls the future:
> who controls the present controls the past.' And yet the past, though of its
> nature alterable, never had been altered. Whatever was true now was true
> from everlasting to everlasting. It was quite simple. All that was needed
> was an unending series of victories over your own memory. 'Reality control',
> they called it: in Newspeak, 'doublethink'/

Disaster 2.0 (http://www.disaster20.eu) is a project studying the
actual and potential uses of Web 2.0 and semantic technologies in
disaster management. The project will identify best practices and
develop policy recommendations for EU governments, and it will also
contribute to the state of the art by developing use cases, ontologies
and software demonstrating Web 2.0 and semantic technologies in
disaster management.
